Salvation History
Genesis 1-11

The purpose of this class is not only to help you become familiar with the stories of the bible, but more importantly to help you to become part of the story. You are a part of God’s love story.

When we hear “love story” many of us begin to lose interest. Maybe it seems a little too soft and cuddly for our taste. But love is not soft. Love ultimately requires blood, sacrifice, and selflessness. God’s love is climatically revealed in the life and death of Jesus Christ. And so that’s how we will read these stories and begin to integrate our own story. We will read them with our eyes fixed on Christ.
This is a great adventure. There’s death, betrayal, romance, and war…and the good guy wins in the end when he rises from the tomb and defies even death to bring him down. This is our story too, to triumph with Jesus when life’s burdens seem too heavy to bear.

Don’t think of this as a class, but as the ultimate great adventure, an adventure that will continue long after the 9th grade.

 Needed for this Class:

• Bible: New American (the Catholic Bible)
• Three ringed binder: We don’t have a text book so you’ll need to keep all handouts and notes in one place. I love three ring binders…and you will too.
• Notebook or loose leaf paper

How this class will be graded:
• Quizzes: I will quiz you often on the readings.
• Handouts: You could easily cheat on these, but that would defeat the purpose. They are for you. Sometimes the readings will be hard the follow. It’s nice to know what to look for.
• Tests after each section.
